We learned how to shoot a gun with safety and confidence at the West Side Pistol Range, the 43-year-old institution and the only operation in Manhattan to have both a classroom and shooting range at the same location. We received:

- A 20 minute shooting and safety lesson with an NRA certified Range Safety Officer
- All safety equipment and gun rental – Ruger 10/22 semi-automatic rifle
- 50 rounds for each participant to shoot
- $35 return visit for all attendees

We joined Maslow 6, the new Tribeca wine shop, for a special introduction class to Old World and New World wines. We tasted six different wines at the event; three will be from the Old World (Europe) and three will be from the New World (US, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa). Maslow 6 shop owner Keri Kunzle taught us how to taste and experience the wines! With each wine, Flatiron Kitchen, a new boutique catering company in NYC, provided specially paired h’ors doeuvres to eat.

Urban Girl Squad joined the Aikido Kokikai of NYC Studio for a special combined Women’s Self-Defense and Introduction to Aikido Class. In this class, Gary Snyder Sensei, a sixth degree black belt in Kokikai Aikido, taught us simple strategies to instantly develop a stronger state of mind and body. We also learned movements and techniques to guide our actions in threatening situations. Snyder Sensei and his senior students demonstrated graceful Aikido moves that take down opponents twice their size!

Aikido is a mind-body martial art that teaches students how to stay calm and relaxed in fighting scenarios and find their strongest state in everyday life. Our teacher, Snyder Sensei, is a senior student of the founder of Kokikai Aikido, Shuji Maruyama Sensei. His studio offered this special Women’s Self-Defense class just for Urban Girl Squad.

We enjoy a decadent night of chocolate tasting with the chocolate experts at Vosges Chocolate (http://www.vosgeschocolate.com), the chocolate company known for their inventive truffles. At the event, we’ll visited four chocolate stations where we tasted Aztec-themed truffles paired with a small bite of food or something delicious to smell. Between stations, we enjoyed special red-fire martinis!

Do you love cheese and want to know more about it? Of course. Cheese 101 at Murray’s Cheese, the world-renowned cheese shop, is the best place to learn! Urban Girl Squad learned the basics of cheese with Murray’s Cheese experts at this delicious event. We were guided through a scrumptious tasting of varied cheeses and learned the fundamentals of perfect pairings while we munched on delicious cheese and beer from Murray’s!

Urban Girl Squad took over Tribeca Treats, the cupcake shop with exciting flavors like s’mores, red velvet, fluffer nutter, cookies & cream, coconut, and more, to learn from Tribeca Treats’ owner and head confectioner Rachel Thebault about mixing flavors and designing desserts. At the event, we decorated and designed two cupcakes from an array of amazing flavors.

We also enjoyed wine from Maslow 6, the recently-opened Tribeca wine shop that brings together people who share a love of wine and want to expand their knowledge and cellars.

Urban Girl Squad partnered up with the coaching experts at lululemon, the yoga apparel store with a focus on mind-body wellness, for a goal-coaching workshop. At this one-hour workshop, we worked together to set realistic personal and professional goals for our ideal lives. Our lululemon coach, Tricia, was fantastic!

Urban Girl Squad enjoyed a night of custom sandal-making with Tuccia di Capri at Henri Bendel. We chose from a variety of styles, colors, and trimmings for our custom Capri sandals! The cobblers sized our feet and then crafted us custom pairs of sandals. The Bendel’s beauty gift bag was fantastic!
